Managed IT and MDR expansion for a Florida sheriff’s office
How expanding managed IT services with MDR strengthened cybersecurity and freed internal resources to focus on public safety operations.

Customer background & security challenges
A Florida Sheriff’s Office, already an Inspired Technologies Managed IT services customer, expanded its partnership to strengthen cybersecurity and support increasing operational demands. While the agency had benefited from a full-time, onsite Inspired network administrator and ongoing managed services for several years, leadership recognized that growing cyber threats and CJIS compliance requirements were consuming valuable technical cycles that could otherwise be directed toward frontline public safety operations.
At the same time, the Sheriff’s Office was modernizing technology to support an advanced detention center facility, requiring highly reliable, secure, and scalable infrastructure. Existing systems needed enhancement to support new workflows, increased system availability, and secure access to sensitive criminal justice data across both on-premises and cloud environments.
While day-to-day IT operations were well managed, the agency recognized an opportunity to strengthen its security posture with continuous, enterprise-grade threat detection and response. Without 24/7 monitoring, visibility into emerging threats was limited, placing additional demands on internal staff during incidents. The agency sought around-the-clock cybersecurity monitoring and response without increasing headcount or diverting focus from strategic initiatives and public safety priorities.
The managed IT and MDR solution
Inspired expanded the existing managed services engagement to include Managed Detection and Response (MDR) and advanced security controls. In addition to the full-time onsite network administrator, Tier 1–3 Service Desk support, and proactive systems management, the Sheriff’s Office gained 24/7 monitoring from Inspired’s U.S.-based Security Operations Center (SOC), endpoint detection and response (EDR), and an advanced SIEM platform that aggregates and correlates security logs across cloud, endpoint, identity, and on-premises systems.
The SOC works directly with Inspired’s Managed IT Services team to provide coordinated investigation, escalation, and rapid remediation of threats. This integrated approach enables real-time detection of suspicious activity and faster containment of incidents, which significantly reduces the operational burden on agency staff.
To further strengthen the security posture and support CJIS compliance, Inspired implemented recurring security awareness training for all users, reinforcing best practices for phishing prevention, credential protection, and proper handling of criminal justice data.
As a result, the agency was able to redirect internal resources toward technology modernization, detention center operations, and public safety initiatives.
Results, visibility & operational impact
With expanded Managed IT and MDR services, the Sheriff’s Office achieved improved security maturity, reduced operational risk, and greater operational efficiency. Continuous monitoring and coordinated response strengthened protection of sensitive systems and improved confidence in incident handling.
Leadership now benefits from greater assurance that infrastructure supporting both public safety and detention operations is secure, reliable, and scalable.
Key outcomes include enhanced threat detection and response, reduced workload for onsite IT staff, infrastructure modernization supporting detention center operations, improved employee security awareness, secure Microsoft cloud services, and sustained CJIS-aligned protections.
This engagement demonstrates how Inspired helps law enforcement agencies enhance cybersecurity while freeing internal teams to focus on their core public safety mission.
